APNA California Chapter is a statewide organization dedicated to serving the professional needs of APNA members throughout California. Founded in early 1996, the Chapter has become one of the largest and most active state chapters of APNA in the nation.Our parent organization, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association headquartered in Arlington, VA, is the largest professional organization of psychiatric nurses in the nation with 35 state chapters and close to 5,000 national and international members.
The California Chapter engages in a wide range of activities which include: offering continuing education programs; engaging in legislative advocacy efforts to influence bills that affect psychiatric / mental health nursing or consumer access to mental health care; forming strategic alliances with related organizations in the health-care field; leadership training; and facilitating opportunities for professionals in our field to network with one another.
There are many ways to take an active role in the Chapter, such as: serving on the Board, becoming an Area Rep and helping to arrange local dinner programs, helping with the NetLetter or web site, or by participating in one of the following Committees:
