UALR Repeater
The UALR Ham Club operates a 2 meter repeater on 146.850 MHz (input 146.250 MHz) for club members and the community. This open repeater has a coverage of about 20-25 miles from the UALR campus, of course depending on terrain. The repeater utilizes a PC computer controller, a 10 watt transmitter at this time, and Wacom duplexers. The antenna is a Ringo Ranger at about 80 feet, located on top of the ETAS (old engineering) building. There is no autopatch capability and no emergency power at this time.UALR Station Room
The UALR Ham Club has a station room located on the fifth (top) floor of the ETAS (Engineering I) building. The shack is located just off the ETAS 553 meeting room/small classroom, where we hold our regular monthly meetings. At this time, the shack contains several HF and VHF radios, including the 146.850 repeater system. Presently our equipment includes a Kenwood TS820, Alinco DX70, Radio Shack HTX-100 10 meter rig, Radio Shack 2 meter rig, and various test gear. The club also has several items of vintage equipment in storage (Swan, Genave, National, Heathkit, others). In the summer of 2011, the club president and faculty sponsor received a NASA Space Grant Award to purchase the components for a space communications ground system! The system uses a Yaesu dual band transceiver with an az/el rotatable 144/440 antenna array for contacts via orbiting ham satellites or with the International Space Station (ISS). NOTE: operations cannot take place in the station room if classes are being held in ETAS 553, and please don't ask to be an exception to this agreement with the college and university!!!HAM Links
